A media workshop was held at Taabar Bal Basera at Kota on 13th March 2014 for the chidren of the Taabar Bal Basera (Shelter home) and children from near by slums.
The objective of the workshop was to make the children comprehend and appreciate the role and working of Media in the real life. It also aimed at providing hands on experience of handling the tools used by media personnel.
The workshop was conducted by reputed media personnel - Mr. Shakir Ali, Reporter from First India Channel, Mukesh Shakyawal, Cameraman from First India Channel, Mr. Niyaz Mohd., Reporter from Sahara Samay, Hari Raj Singh, Reporter from News Express, Mr Nitin, Reporter from Chambal Sandesh News paper & News Plus Channel and Mr. Vasim Pathan, Cameraman from Chambal Sandesh News paper.
The session was very interactive and was initiated by a brain storming session where the children were asked to share their knowledge and thoughts about media. Then the guests made the students aware about the meaning, types and working of media. The guests gave a demo to the children where they demonstrated how reporting is done (broadcast media). Children were then asked to do a role play and were asked to play role of Reporter and cameraman by assuming themselves as in the prescribed role. The children played their respective role by facing the camera, interviewing the people and demonstrating their orator skills.
The children were also explained the importance and method of being a good Journalist.
The children were very happy and enthralled by this innovative workshop and they enjoyed a lot. They were very excited when they were provided the opportunity to operate the camera. The guests also shared the enthusiasm as they got to experience a blissful afternoon with the children. The Bal Basera team got an invitation from the First India Channel to visit their Press and Office. The children and Taabar team is looking forward to this visit.
