Bal Basera Open Shelter Home

For a child living on the streets, missing, running away from home, experiencing exploitation or being rescued from child labour, the first need is simple: a safe place where they can breathe, feel protected and begin to rebuild their lives.

Bal Basera Open Shelter Home provides temporary care, protection and rehabilitation support to vulnerable children, including children found at railway stations, runaway children and those rescued from child labour and other unsafe situations.

The shelter provides a child-friendly environment where children receive nutritious meals, clothing, healthcare, hygiene support, counselling and opportunities for education and recreation. Through sports, creative activities, theatre, dance, craft and learning sessions, children are encouraged to regain confidence and experience the joy of being children again.

Alongside immediate care, the team works on family tracing, home verification, counselling and coordination with relevant authorities to identify safe and appropriate rehabilitation pathways.

For many children, Bal Basera is their first experience of a secure environment after a period of uncertainty and vulnerability. It is more than a shelter—it is a bridge between a difficult past and the possibility of a safer future.
