Female Sex Workers – Dignity, Health & Opportunity (Sirohi Project)

Women engaged in sex work and their families often experience multiple and interconnected vulnerabilities, including stigma, social exclusion, limited access to healthcare, education and government services, and restricted opportunities for sustainable livelihoods. Their children may also face barriers to education and an increased risk of exploitation and neglect.

The project adopts a rights-based and non-judgmental approach to support women, children and families in vulnerable communities. The intervention focuses on creating access to essential healthcare, awareness, counselling, and opportunities for improved livelihoods.

Health awareness and preventive care are important components of the programme, helping women make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing. Children are supported to remain connected with education and protected from circumstances that may compromise their safety and future.

The project also works towards strengthening women’s confidence, awareness and ability to access available services and opportunities. Wherever possible, families are connected with relevant government schemes and community resources.

The initiative is not simply about providing services—it is about restoring dignity, strengthening choices and creating pathways towards a safer and more secure future.

Every woman deserves to be treated with dignity, and every child deserves the opportunity to grow up with hope, safety and equal opportunities.
